Your First Date Just

Screen Shot 2016-12-27 at 21.10.15.pngFor any collector a Rolex is a staple piece. A MUST have.

A watch is always personal and with this collection there’s a high chance you’ll find you pick. Especially with the vast selection of combinations.

Hopefully the following tips will make the decision process easier:

Size matters!

Options include: 26/28/31/36/41mm

Trends currently dictate the bigger the better; Rolex are discontinuing the 26mm as women are wearing bigger watch year on year.

However try thinking 5 years down the line and whether you still would like this choice.   Would you want to wear this with a dress, small usually looks more balanced, but oversized can work too. Just pick for your personality. The other option of course have more than one- but that’s another discussion.

Choices include: Steel, Everose/yellow Rolesor or full gold.

Occasion is a key consideration here. If you would like a durable watch or something subtle for everyday perhaps steel is best. They use 904L rated stainless steel which is highly resistant to corrosion and creates a protective layer when it gets scratched. This protects the watch further and allows for a high shine when polished.

If you would like something eye catching or distinctive then go for gold. There is nothing wrong with drawing a bit of attention every now and then.

However, a mixture of steel and gold is very suitable for any occasion, very easy to transition both in and outside of the office.

Consider the colours that best suit your style and preferences. Do you already wear jewellery and if so what metals do you usually wear? I know it sounds crazy but even consider zip colours.

Bracelet

With only two types of bracelet for the Datejust this isn’t too hard!

Oyster: The traditional bracelet design.

Yet is perhaps the most modern looking with a bold statement and the mixture of brushed and polished finishes. Although it was designed before the jubilee bracelet much to most people’s surprise. However, it has stuck around for one clear reason, it is timeless.

Jubilee: Delicate links and an intricate design.

This makes for a very feminine bracelet. Note the Rolex crown clasp which blends beautifully into the bracelet! It is a work of art and makes wear scratches less obvious. Let’s face it if you’re anything like me it will have a few. It also looks more like jewellery than a watch from the underside.

There is no wrong choice just personal preference. The pictures never do these pieces justice, it is hard to fully appreciate their beauty. Like I always say you never know unless you try!

Bezel

There are two main types of bezel, fluted and Domed. But of course if you prefer there are various diamond options too.

Fluted

An iconic symbol of Rolex. As the more prestigious bezel it is always in 18ct gold even if on an all steel bracelet. It has a diamond cut which helps keep a longer lasting look as it reflects more light thus disguising any scratches; which comes in very handy.

Domed

This is the smooth bezel. It is clean and modern which gives it a very professional look. Ideal for everyday use especially for anyone who doesn’t want anything too flashy on their wrist.

Dial

There is a vast amount of choice with about 500 dials in total in today’s models across all the ranges. Don’t be too daunted by this, you will know what you want when you see it. Rolex uses very luxurious materials such as meteorite, mother of pearl, diamonds. Look around and see a few before deciding but go with your gut instinct it will be the right choice.

My personal favourite is meteorite. Each dial is a natural substance and has its own unique pattern; meaning no two are ever the same. The difference between this and mother of pearl which has very similar qualities is the rarity. A piece of the galaxy perfectly arranged on your wrist. It is out of this world.

Don’t worry about how long you take to choose. Do your research and try a few on!

Once you choose OWN it!

Bye for now
